Dr Hubert Danso appointed to Africa Climate Summit High-Level Advisory Panel

Africa investor (Ai) today confirmed that Dr. Hubert Danso, its CEO and Chairman, and the Chairman of the African Union’s Continental Business Network (CBN), has been appointed to the African Unions’ Africa Climate Summit High-Level Advisory Panel a flagship initiative of H.E. President William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya.

President Ruto as the Chair of the African Unions Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) announced that Kenya would host an Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi ahead of COP 28, as a space for concrete actions and solutions for African Heads of State to address green industrialization investment opportunities and, to build political momentum on Africa’s just transition financing needs in the run-up to COP28 in Dubai.

The Africa Climate Summit on “Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World to be held between the 4th to the 6th of September 2023, is an innovative Heads of State level multi-stakeholder Summit, to catalyze green industrialization across the continent to drive Africa’s just energy transition.

This African Union Summit will be hosted by the Government of the Republic of Kenya.

As a member of this esteemed High-Level Advisory Panel, Dr Danso’s role will be to share his vast global institutional investment expertise, green infrastructure investment experience, and participation as a member of President Macron’s New Global Financial Pact Summit Finance Leaders Group, to link the 2 Summits, and assist shape the outcomes of the Africa Climate Summit to drive private capital mobilization at-scale initiatives, such as the African Green Infrastructure Investment Bank (AfGIIB). A key objective of Dr Danso’s role is to help African Union Leaders position and establish African Green Industrial Infrastructure as a globally competitive investable asset class through institutional investor-public partnerships (IIPPs).

The Summit will bring together leaders from African governments, development partners, intergovernmental organisations, the private sector, women, youth, children groups, research institutions, think tanks, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to design and catalyse actions and public and private sector solutions for climate change in Africa.
