PRESS RELEASE

African and US Indexes convene for international summit

London, 03 April 2008. Africa Investor (Ai), the Pan African investment group, and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Euronext have joined forces  to host the Ai Index Series Summit. The Summit is due to take place at the New York Stock Exchange on the 15th September 2008, and aims to profile African companies and institutional investment opportunities to Wall Street. African stock exchanges have provided impressive US $ returns for investors, and there is increasing interest in developing Africa’s capital markets and African equities which have provided attractive returns in the last several years. African Equities offer a superior risk/return profile that is not affected by trends in the more developed markets. Many African equities have very attractive Price/Earnings ratios. In 2007, some of the world best performing stock exchanges were in Africa, consequently US and African investors and companies are set to meet in Index Series Summit that will set the agenda for investment and exchanges between the two continents for the coming year.

The summit will have a variety of sector and projects specific panels with expert speakers on subjects ranging from: measuring corporate governance and risk in Africa, company and market dynamics, market investability, investable African securities.
“Sub-Saharan Africa is currently experiencing its best economic performance in many years. We find that gross domestic product growth could average 5 per cent per annum over the next decade compared to less than 3 per cent over the past 30 years. Its share of world GDP would increase from 1.3 per cent to 2 per cent." Economics team, Goldman Sachs, 23 May 2005
The likes of Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citibank, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch are amongst companies who have been invited to participate.

Africa investor will also host the 2008 Index Series Awards, on the evening of the Summit day at the NYSE, where the winners of the Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony.
